At BarnesCare we are dedicated to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. In these unique times, this includes concern for our own team members as well as the health and safety of your employees.
BarnesCare’s response to COVID-19 continues to evolve along with the progression of the virus. A number of recent developments on the response to the COVID-19 pandemic impact operations at our three clinics:
- BarnesCare has implemented a COVID-19 screening for all patients entering the clinic. We are also practicing social distancing in our waiting rooms.
- The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) has recommended the suspension of routine occupational spirometry testing as these tests require the performance of a forced expiratory maneuver which could spread droplets in the air if an infected person is tested, even if asymptomatic. BarnesCare has deferred routine spirometry and reduced breath alcohol testing because of the risk of generating infectious aerosols.
- To protect our patients and our team members from the risk of the virus spreading within our hospitals and service organizations, BJC has implemented a no visitor policy. This includes family members of patients. Please notify employees or job candidates visiting BarnesCare of the no visitor policy.
- The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has extended until June 30, 2020 the maximum period of CDL validity by waiving 49 CFR 383.73(b)(9) and 383.73(d)(6) for CDLs due for renewal on or after March 1, 2020.
Please be assured that all work-related injury care will remain a high priority for your employees during the pandemic. We likely will be using innovative methods of delivering virtual care where appropriate. Please note that whatever is recommended this week may change next week as we adapt to changing circumstances.
