BarnesCare is pleased to announce that William Wetzel, DO, FACEP, has met all requirements for certification from the Medical Review Officer Certification Council (MROCC). A certified Medical Review Officer (MRO) is a licensed physician who is qualified to evaluate laboratory drug test results within federally mandated and non-mandated workplace drug testing programs. Dr. Wetzel passed the MROCC examination, which is based on the Department of Transportation’s Federal Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 and the MRO Competencies document developed by the Council.
Dr. Wetzel joins Jamuna Arekapudi, MD, and Thomas Kibby, MD, MPH, CIME, FACOEM, as BarnesCare MROs. “Our primary role as MRO is to evaluate laboratory drug test results within workplace drug testing programs,” says Dr. Kibby, chief medical officer, BarnesCare. “As MROs, we protect our client companies by helping with policies and regulatory issues. We also protect donors from false accusation of illicit drug use when there is an alternate medical explanation for the non-negative laboratory result.”
