Moore Takes Flight in Travelers’ Health Service
Karen Moore, DNP, APRN, ANP, BC, knows the importance of details. Moore, lead travel health specialist, knows that the detail and time she takes preparing her clients for international travel could make the difference between returning home healthy or ill from their trip. She believes that good travel health is more than just administering recommended vaccines. “I take into consideration a patient’s health history, current health status and medications before we discuss destination-specific information,” says Moore. “If there are concerns, I also want to be sure the patient’s physician is part of the discussion.”
Moore has over 12 years of experience as a BarnesCare nurse practitioner. Her travel health duties include destination research, pre and post-travel consultation and specific vaccine recommendations. “Karen is an excellent clinician with a commitment to and passion for patient education,” says Scott C. Jones, DO, MPH, FAOCOPM, BarnesCare medical director. “Our goal is to provide the highest quality, one-on-one travel health consultation services for individual travelers or for organizations with personnel who travel to overseas destinations.”
Moore is dedicated to educating patients and the community on BJC Travelers’ Health Service. “We provide virtually any travel health-related service that might be required by the overseas traveler,” says Moore. “I want to be the first person you think of when you need travel health expertise. I am committed to providing the best care and service to our patients.”
