Operating a drug-free workplace has become a priority for most businesses regardless of size or industry. BarnesCare's comprehensive substance abuse testing services are an organization's best resource in maintaining the highest standards of employee safety, health and productivity. Establishing a program begins with developing and communicating a policy to employees that clearly states when, why and how testing will occur. BarnesCare can help you develop sound policies for drug and alcohol testing for the following instances: - Post-offer employment
- Post-accident/injury
- For cause (suspicion)
- Random
- Return-to-duty
- Follow-up
BarnesCare can help you determine what the best testing program is for your specific needs. We offer lab-based (urine, oral fluid and hair) drug testing solutions as well as point-of-collection (urine) testing options. Breath alcohol testing is the standard for detecting alcohol consumption. The following drug categories are commonly tested: - Amphetamines*
- Barbiturates
- Benzodiazepines
- Cannabinoids*
- Cocaine*
- Methadone
- Opiates*
- Phencyclidine*
- Propoxyphene
- DOT-regulated drug categories
Substance abuse testing services are available at all BarnesCare locations. On-Site Substance Abuse Testing
With one telephone call to our on-site service line, a professionally trained and certified technologist will be dispatched to your workplace (or to a BJC Hospital Emergency Room if there is an after-hours injury) to administer a drug screen and/or breath alcohol test. Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week anywhere in the St. Louis metropolitan area by calling our on-site service line. Test results are reported by telephone 24-48 hours after collection. Medical Review Officer Services
A Medical Review Officer (MRO) is a physician who has had special training in conducting and interpreting drug tests. After reviewing the results of such tests, the MRO may interview or examine the employee to determine if there is any legitimate medical reason that may explain the outcome. MRO review is required for drug tests performed under Department of Transportation (DOT) mandate. However, to ensure that a positive result is valid and can withstand possible legal challenge, it is strongly recommended that a Medical Review Officer review all positive drug tests. BarnesCare physicians have been certified as MROs to ensure that BarnesCare's drug and alcohol testing is carried properly and has legal validity. They remain up-to-date about the protocols and requirements of the various agencies that regulate drug and alcohol testing. BarnesCare MROs are your company's expert resources for any questions about workplace drug use and testing. They also can help determine if there is a genuine medical reason when a donor claims he or she cannot produce a urine specimen. Medical Review Officer FAQs Supervisor Training
